RESERVE, NATIONAL GUARD UNITS CALLED UP - OCT. 4

An additional 3,283 Army Reservists and Army National Guard members are being called to active duty as part of the partial mobilization authorized by President Bush. This brings the total Army Reserve force soldiers called to active duty to 7,765 to date.

The soldiers called to active duty in this announcement serve in 43 different units from 13 states and the District of Columbia. Among the specialties represented by these units are military police, military intelligence and infantry.

In addition, 130 more members of the Naval Reserve are being called to active duty. This brings the total Naval Reserve called to active duty to 2,250 to date.

The majority of these Naval Reservists have been recalled individually based on specific skills, including law enforcement, security, medical, supply, intelligence and other specialties.

Total current call-ups for the Army National Guard and Army Reserve are 7,765; Naval Reserve, 2,250; Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve, 12,722; Marine Corps Reserve, 258; and Coast Guard Reserve 2,770. This brings the total Reserve and National Guard called to active duty to 25,765 from 183 units, 44 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico and individual augmentees.
